Campeche offers 8 bastions which 4 of them are tremendously interesting, such as museums, tropical gardens, libraries and folklore exhibitions, explore the area by walking through about 2 kilometers and you will certainly find one of the cleanest cities in Mexico.
A city considered a cultural world heritage of humanity by the UNESCO and one of the safest ones in the country.
The main square is charming, possessing a beautiful colonial view, despite the modern image that was incorporated to it in 1985, where is located the most antique cathedral of the Peninsula of Yucatan: "La Concepcion", built in 1540, two blocks towards the east side there is the Regional Museum dedicated to the colorful history of the state, to the north there is the Carvajal Mansion, one of the fanciest ones in the state, towards the south there is the House of Culture, another example of Campeche’s colonial style, this mansion has been remodeled and shows an elegant façade of ceramics.
Other important attractions in the city are: the Malecon (jetty), ideal to watch sunsets and the canyons that once defended the port; almost all the streets are built with ceramic material and constructions from the colonial period are still in good shape.
For dining, in Campeche you will find the best seafood dishes, the outstanding shrimp with coconut on mango sauce, the cazon (school shark) bread, and an endless diversity of regional food.
